Soothe Your Stress Naturally

By: Andrew John

Many of us suffer from "typical" everyday problems. An annoying workmate, problems with money, traffic jams or unhappy love - they all cause stress to grab you by the throat in no time. You simply have to learn how to cope with such situations in order to remain balanced, happy and capable of living your life to the fullest.

As a rule of thumb, if you want to keep your stress level in check, you should do things you enjoy doing - in opposition to those you have to do or think you should enjoy. From building ship models to RPG sessions to long walks in the evening - if only you like doing something, do it. If you feel joy and happiness even for an hour a day, your problems with stress will suddenly become less and less serious.

Here are a few things you may want to consider doing. For a start yo may want to get into your car and ride far, far away - outside of the city. Even a few hours spent in the area you don't know well may be very refreshing. A different atmosphere, people you don't know and sights' you've never seen before - all of those are excellent occasions to let your stress go. If you have a special someone, you may change it into a romantic event, a special date or the second honeymoon. There is hardly anything as relaxing as that!

A tub filled with hot water is another way of making you feel relaxed and safe. If you add a lot of bubbles and aromatic oils, the effects may be truly astounding. Even though it is not something we would think about when talking about "activities you enjoy doing", having a hot bath may be just what you need to make all your worries go away.

Another tip: drink a cup of your favorite tea while reading a book you like or watching a film you enjoy. This will let you relax a bit and feel a bit better than before. Remember that both your body and mind require some time off if they are to behave themselves.

Knowing how to calm yourself down will let you deal with much more serious problems without even flinching. If you have created a safe haven to get back to, your body and soul will be nearly 100% safe against stress. As long as you have something to long for or a situation you'd like to return to from time to time, stress won't affect you anymore.
