1. Anti-Fungal Medications

Doctors, at the onset of candida infection, often prescribe anti-Fungal medicines, such as Miconazole or Clotrimazole. Dependent upon the yeast infection, these medications can either be applied topically, or as an oral gel.

There are also some anti-fungal treatments that can be purchased over the counter from your local drugstore. Just explain the symptoms to the pharmacist, or look at the labels for guidance.

However, before diagnosing your own candida treatment, it is important that you seek the advice of a specialist first, or at least advise them what you are taking to counteract the yeast infection.

Normally the Candida treatments prescribed by your doctor will take between 3 and 7 days before you will see any results. Such medications need to be taken orally or can be applied directly to the affected area. There are also specific medications designed to treat infections of the vagina which, which usually come in suppository form.

However, although these types of Candida treatments are usually able to cure the infection, with a success rate of between 80 and 90%, there are some candida infections which are now immune to such treatments.

Unfortunately, the strain that has build the immunity is becoming more prevalent and especially in people who are HIV positive or people who are undergoing long term antibiotic therapy.

2. Sugar and Yeast Free Diet

It is important that you give your body every advantage against the candida infection to be able to purge your body of the effects as soon as possible.

There is some lifestyle and diet changes that can make a real impact on reducing the ability of candida to grow out of control. Also, in general these methods are free and easy to implements, and will have no side effects.

Following a strict diet that removes all sugar, refined sugar products, yeast products, fungal foods such as mushrooms, and as much processed foods as possible can make a large difference to recovery times.

This type of diet eliminates the items, which create the environment for the candida to thrive. It can be looked upon as starving the yeast infection of its sustenance, and so making it weaker and reducing its ability to multiply.

There are other ways to increase your chances in the battle against candida yeast infections and multiple candida treatments available to you. These will be covered in future articles.
