Alternatives For Back Pain Sufferers

By: Jeff Foster...

Back pain was not just discovered during modern times. As you might imagine pains in the back have been occurring since we began walking upright. Many times back pain begins with the simple movement of the back at an odd angle.

We humans have been developing treatments for back pain long before what we now know in western civilization. In fact, what we now use to treat painful backs is relatively new when compared to how long people have been treating and developing treatment for bad backs.

Since most of these treatments fall outside the discipline of the AMA (American Medical Association), they are considered as alternative treatments or alternative medicine; even though they have been around and used for the treatment of back pain for centuries.

Alternative medicine for treating back pain includes such practices as acupuncture. Acupuncture has been practiced for over 5,000 years now.

Acupressure is closely related to acupuncture but without the needles. The idea of acupressure is to put pressure on specific points in the body, using only hands and fingers to restore the balance of Qi and thus relieve pain.

The use of herbs as alternative treatments for ailments have been around for literally thousands of years. As you know, most of today's medications are primarily synthetic based variants of the long used herbal medications. However, as opposed to many of the natural herbal treatments today synthetic varieties can produce many possible side effects.

"Get knowledge of the spine, for this is the requisite for many diseases." Hippocrates said this, and so does those who practice Chiropractics. Since 1895 Chiropractics as been around as we know it. In fact, the AMA was established in 1847, so the AMA doesn't have a big jump on the field of Chiropractics.

Since back pain has been around since the dawn of mankind, so then has the quest to relieve and cure it.

Back pain has been around as long as man himself...and so has seeking relief of that pain.

When your back hurts, you want relief. If you've not had success with traditional drugs and treatments, you may want to consider some of the alternative treatments. Especially if you may be considering some type of invasive surgery. Discuss some of these options with your healthcare provider to see if any may be right for you.
